Rachel Levine is a trans woman who serves as the Assistant Secretary for Health for DHS (Department of Health and Human Services). She was nominated by President Biden and confirmed by the Senate in 2021 - making her the first openly trans person to be confirmed by the Senate.
Here’s where it gets better: we’ve all heard of most of the eight uniformed services: Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, etc, but one of those eight is the Public Health Service Commissioned Corp.
On October 19, 2021, Levine was commissioned as a four-star admiral in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, becoming the first openly transgender four-star officer in any of the United States uniformed services. She is also the first female four-star admiral in the commissioned corps.
I give you, Secretary, Admiral, Doctor Rachel Levine.
